august 8 - 10: Artist Gallery- Gary Hamel
Migration Root: My journey through the winter of '24-'25
opening reception, Friday, August 8, 6-8 p.m.
“There are no birds in this series,” artist Gary Hamel said, “because this is my own personal migration - a migration of the mind.”
During a very difficult period, Hamel looked through his lifetime archive of photographs to choose images that reflected the emotions he was feeling, as the inspiration for new paintings.
For this exhibition, he created the series of H6 oil landscapes of locations along the easter seaboard - from New Brunswick to North Carolina.
Then Hamel wondered if he was painting his “escape” out of a New Hampshire winter (a journey southward) or a “return at the vernal equinox (the northern journey)*
*The viewer will be able to experience the journey either way, depending on the direction they tour the exhibit, clockwise or counter clockwise.
All paintings will be offered for sale
gallery will be open:
August 8, 6 - 8 p.m.
August 9, 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.
August 10, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
